A brief word study for Judges 3:19

The word in Hebrew for quarries: the Hebrew word, הפסילים, the prefix is the definite article, the postfix is the plural form. it can be translated as the idols, the images, the stones. The Hebrew text can only be understood as "THE stones", from the context. What can be THE stones at Gilgal? I think that should be quite clear in the context of the Bible, and from the history of the Israelites. But THE idols or THE images at Gilgal are rather out of context, for we would by no means know what the THE means from the context.
